She killed her 2 children, then jumped off a bridge, police say
A North Carolina mother killed her two young children before jumping to her own death from an interstate bridge, according to police.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers responded to a suicide call on the Old Gum Branch Road bridge at Interstate 485 Saturday evening, where a woman was found dead, according to a press release.
Information gathered at the scene led officers to a home where they found two children with life-threatening injuries, police said. The children were transported to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Investigators have determined the woman, whose identity has not been released, “assaulted her children” before jumping off the bridge, the release states. There was no one else in the home when police arrived.
The children were a 3-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy, according to WBTV in Charlotte. Their identities and cause of death have not been released.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
