Vermont Police Thwart Potential School Shooting

Vermont police on Friday said they thwarted a potential attack on a high school and had arrested an 18-year-old after receiving what they said were credible threats he planned to, in his words, “shoot up” Fair Haven Union High School.

The Fair Haven Police Department and members of the Vermont State Police on Thursday arrested Jack Sawyer of Poultney, Vt., after receiving multiple reports that he had purchased a firearm and had plans to attack the school he once attended in the western part of the state.
